Hi friends,
I sometimes get questions about what I’m working now, and what I’ll be writing next, and so on.
So, I thought I would write a short post about my 2023 plans … however, full disclaimer: I do change my mind a lot. Things happen, some trends are siren calls, a new shiny idea takes hold, and my schedule suddenly changes. That happens A LOT, so be warned! If this plan changes … well, you’ve been warned ;)
Writing and publishing:
Books 3 and 4 of the Rite World: Lightgrove Witches will be releasing soon, probably mid-to-end of February for #3, and then March for #4. Right now I’m writing book 5 in the series. Immediately after this one, I’ll write book 6, which is supposed to be the last one–these two books will be released around May and June, it depends on how fast my editor and proofreader can get through them. There might be a book 7 in case some things I need to tie up on the last book ends up taking too long … we’ll see about that when I’m writing book 6 next month.
After I’m done with the Lightgrove Witches, I’ll work on some side stories in the Rite World. I’ve committed to a free anthology for May and I already know which character in the Rite World I’ll be writing about. I also want to write a newsletter serial (this means I’ll release a new chapter with each newsletter I send through email), a new newsletter sign-up book, and a new free book for those who join my Facebook group. So those are 4 new stories in the Rite World and they will all be FREE!
After those 4 stories, I plan on writing another book in The Wyth Courts series, as well as re-edit the existing 4 books. The new book will be #1, and the others will be pushed a number back … so Winter King, which is book 1 now, will become book 2 then, and so on. When it gets closer to work through these changes, I’ll certainly remind you all of that.
After The Wyth Courts, I don’t know … by then it should be Summer and I’ll probably change my mind lol I *might* work on Breaking #5, which is Ri’s story. I already have the title and the cover and some idea of the story, but I haven’t sat down to plot it out and probably won’t until I actually commit to it.
I also want to work on a new Rite World series, but I’m not sure I’ll have time for it this year, or if that will happen next year. I have plenty of ideas for other series in the Rite World, but the next I’ll work on will probably be Ariella’s story–the fallen angel who shows up in several books and series in the Rite World universe.
Audiobooks:
I’m still working with my narrators on Rite World: Night Wolves. When that one is done, I’ll do the audiobook of Rite World: Lightgrove Witches. Depending on how fast that goes, I might do another one … we’ll see. Audiobooks are expensive, guys! Have to do them one at a time lol
I also contacted a couple who does audiobooks together, so they would work on The Wyth Courts series, but they are booked until 2024! I might still wait until then … we’ll see.
Well, that’s it for now. As I said, everything might change. But you should totally hang around to see what I do and what I don’t do lol
See you around!
Cheers,
Alex J. Cavanaugh (@AlexJCavanaugh)
That’s a lot of books. Wish I could write that fast.
