The lovelies Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk came up with the WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY meme. Here’s Jaime’s explanation about it: “It’s similar in some respects to the Currently… post, but it’s been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more manageable on a weekly basis. You’re invited to join us if you’re looking for something to blog about, a way to let your blog friends know what’s been going on with you.”
Hi everyone! Happy 2014! I posted My 2014 Plan (general goals) and My 2014 Plan – Part 2 (upcoming books) the other day, in case you’re interested. Have you posted goals for 2014? I want to know them!
Anyway, first What’s Up Wednesday of the year … and my first one in a month! *hides*
WHAT I’M READING
Reading was very slow last month and I finished the year reading only 60 books (down from 80 in 2012!). I’m hoping this year I’ll read close to 80 books again …
This week I finished Mockinjay by Suzanne Collins and For Real by Chelsea Cameron. I’ll start a new book tonight, I just don’t know which one yet …
WHAT I’M WRITING
I’m actually editing Playing Pretend after getting the first notes from my editor. The manuscript is due back to her on Jan 20th, so I better hurry! ;)
WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW
Not the cold and the snow, that’s for sure.
A new year. That’s what inspires me. It’s like starting fresh and having the opportunity to try again, to do it better, to give my best, to be my best. I’m excited and super nervous about this year.
WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO
I went down to NC and SC during the holidays – we visited friends from Brazil who have been living here in the US for as long as we do, and we all live in the same town in Ohio once, so that was fun. Now I only see them once or twice per year … Anyway, even though we drove 12 hours to go and 14 hours to come back, it was worth it!
While in SC, I remembered author Sarra Cannon had just moved to SC and I thought I was somewhat close to her. We exchanged a few messages and we found out we were in the same town! So we scheduled a meeting at a Starbucks. It was sooooo good. It’s great to talk to someone in the industry, someone who writes the same categories/genres as you, who also self-publishes and understands everything!
What else? I meet with some local writers once month or so (*waves at Cris, Ghenet, Ginger and Jessica*) and we spend the day writing … and talking about writing, publishing, reading, etc ;) Our next write-in is Jan 18th and I think another writer will join us (*waves at Katlyn*). But tomorrow I’ll have my first weekly write-in with Ginger! I’m very excited. Usually, I get a lot more done writing-wise when I’m not at home LOL
Now tell me, WHAT’S UP WITH YOU?
Don’t forget to stop by Jaime’s blog and check out the linky list of the awesome writers who are participating of this meme!
Cheers,
Emma Adams
Best of luck with the edits! I’d love to find a local writing group, as it’s one of the things I miss most about my university course. Have a great week!
Laurel Holman
I love that you have a regular meeting with local writers. It’s so nice to share the journey with others going through similar challenges. Good luck with the revisions due this month!
Carrie-Anne
Good luck with finishing your edits! You’re lucky to live near other writers.
I’m hoping to finish my WIP within the next six months, and then move onto full-time editing, revising, and rewriting of a MUCH shorter book. I’m also hoping to indie publish my first Russian historical this year, which means one final round of edits and sweep-throughs.
Rachel Schieffelbein
Meeting up with other writers is the best. :) It’s so nice to talk with people who understand what it’s like.
Jaime Morrow
I really have to agree with you on the uninspiring nature of the cold weather. I’m so ready for it to be gone. (We’ve had this nonsense for over two months already.) That’s wonderful that you got to meet up with a writer friend. And that you get to regularly meet up with writers. I’m sort of envious. Have a wonderful week, Juliana!
Jessie Humphries
I absolutely adore getting together with my writer peeps. Its so necessary for my psyche. Such a pick-me-up.
kate scott
Good luck with your edits. It sounds like you had a great trip to the Carolina’s over the holidays, and what an added bonus that you got to see a writing friend in the process.
Katy Upperman
Best of luck with your PLAYING PRETEND edits. Here’s hoping the cold moves along soon. It’s even frosty here in Florida! Happy New Year, Juliana, and have a great week!
Alex J. Cavanaugh
Cool you met up with some other authors. I know there are quite a few here in North Carolina.
Miss Cole
Happy New Year! Stay warm :D Hope the edits go smoothly :D
Colin
You were in NC? Cool! I hope you enjoyed your little visit to our beautiful state. :) It’s great that you got to meet up with other writers. That’s not something I’ve done, partly because I don’t know any other writers locally… and I’m not the most… um… socially adept person on the planet. Besides, writers are strange… ;)
I hope you have a wonderful and productive writing week, Juliana! :)
Valerie Cole
I love meeting up with other writers. Sometimes the computer just doesn’t cut it and I want to see and talk to people IRL! So happy you found someone you can talk and relate to. It’s super important as a writer to have those people.
Happy 2014!
Erin Funk
The cold and the snow sure aren’t inspiring me either! But the new year certainly is. I love your positive outlook on it! That’s wonderful you were able to have a spur of the moment get together with another NA author! That must have been so encouraging! Best of luck on your edits! :)
Crystal Collier
January 20th? Lady, what are you doing on the interwebs? GO! Get writing! ;)
Robin Moran
In a way I do hate that feeling of finishing a book, taking a look at the enormous TBR and thinking ‘what on Earth do I read next?’. So many choices!
