I don’t know if you guys noticed, but at first I set Cup of Life (The Everlast Trilogy #2.5 – novella) to be released the same date of Soul Oath (The Everlast Trilogy #2 – novel).
Then, talking to my editor and two friends about it, I realized the series would benefit if the novella came after the novel. Why, you ask? Being completely honest, here are the reasons:
1) Readers probably won’t buy both books together. They will buy Soul Oath, then read it and if they like it, they will buy Cup of Life. And that may take months, so, why to release a novella that might not get any sales for at least a couple of months?
2) It’s probable that midst release excitement and blog tour, the novella is overlooked and completely missed because of the novel.
3) Releasing the novella later will help create buzz to the next novel (#3), which should be released June 2014 – if everything works out the way I’m planning.
The thing is, knowing myself, I won’t be able to hold the novella for long … so, instead of releasing it in March (which would be halfway from book #2 and #3), I’ll release Cup of Life in:
January 20th 2014
There are more exciting things coming … stay tuned!
Cheers,
Alex J. Cavanaugh
Good plan! Spread it out that way.
